The Engage U Coordinator based at the Glendale-Mountain View Community Learning Center ( CLC ) will coordinate targeted programming, perform engagement-centered community outreach, and serve as a resource for education pathways for Westside community members. The coordinator will receive guidance and support from the Engage U program manager and collaborate with the program manager to develop, implement, and assess Engage U programming at the CLC . This programming centers around improving access to educational opportunities and often requires partnership with both community partners and internal campus partners to provide content area expertise. Located in the Glendale neighborhood of Salt Lake City, the CLC represents a number of community-centered partnerships that support core instructional programs of elementary and middle schools through holistic family engagement and removal of barriers to learning. To that end, the CLC -based Engage U coordinator can expect to work closely and collaboratively with individuals from schools, CLC staff, University partners, parents and families, and community partners to support student aspirations and inquiries. **Responsibilities** **Responsibilities:** * Plan, implement, and assess programming focused on college access, career preparedness, and family engagement, with an emphasis on connecting pre-college students and their families to the University of Utah and other higher education opportunities. * Work collaboratively with CLC staff to support events and activities happening at the center and at Glendale Middle School or Mountain View Elementary School. * Develop familiarity with available college access and university resources and refer current and prospective students to the correct resource in a timely and effective manner. * Work collaboratively with college departments and main campus content and service experts to implement targeted strategies to enhance programmatic offerings. * Track information on college or community resources utilized; create reports as required. Maintain database of student, family, and community interactions and provide data and information on students served when requested. * Assist the Engage U program manager in planning, developing, and implementing community-based exploration opportunities, including resource fairs, industry visits, parent sessions, community activities, and opportunities to partner with SLCC when relevant. * Provide coordinating support for AmeriCorps volunteers, as well as University of Utah undergraduate students in community engaged learning experiences based at the CLC campus. * Perform other related duties as assigned. **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:** * Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures. * Knowledge of current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications. * Knowledge of academic and/or customer service techniques. * Skill in listening to issues, synthesizing information, and reaching sound conclusions. * Skill in dealing effectively with students and/or parents. * Skill in setting up and maintaining detailed records. * Ability to multi-task and organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with attention to detail. * Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment. * Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions and take appropriate action, and resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other department staff, students, and the public. **Minimum Qualifications** Bachelor’s degree (or equivalency) in a related field plus one year directly related experience or equivalency. Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required. **EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT : 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience.
