This role is a part of the Test & Flight Operations team, providing centralized support to business units with a focus on the design, build, and maintenance of the ground systems, test, and launch facilities across multiple locations.
As part of a hardworking team of diverse experts, you will help in the testing of Engines for various Vehicle configurations. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of aerospace manufacturing while working with the team to keep the shop functioning at a high level. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention toward safe and repeatable spaceflight.
Being at the heart of Blue Origin operations, the West Texas Site in Van Horn, TX offers eligible employee’s additional attractive financial incentives to supplement their competitive base earnings, including a living allowance and relocation assistance. Eligibility for these additional benefits is based on the employee’s ability to permanently relocate to Van Horn, TX, or travel to Van Horn from another Blue location a minimum of 50% of the time.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Perform hands on maintenance or modifications to Engines.Perform fabrication, installation, and checkout of wire harnesses.Test article integration and checkout.Perform flight hardware and instrumentation systems inspections.Reviewing, editing, and following test procedures and processes.Operation of test facility and ground support equipment.General troubleshooting of Instrumentation, and flight avionics systems.Working with engineers on design concepts/improvements and development tests.Perform scheduled inspections on Tested/Qualified Engines.Handling and transportation of Engines from Test stand to engine processing facility.Perform engine tooling maintenance and inspections.Interact and work with Test/Design Engineers every day.Travel to test sites to support mission at least 15% of the year.Safely working with hazardous chemicals, cryogenics, and high-pressure systems.Ability to work on a team or as an individual contributor.Perform tasks individually assigned from leadership for the benefit of the engines team.Maintain a balanced and motivated Team environment.Conducts operations at elevated Heights.Minimum Qualifications:
Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!Able to work any rotation schedule dictated by the site leadership.Has Mechanical experience concerning automotive, aviation, farm equipment etc.7+ years of experience in an electrical trade.Has worked in a production environment similar to aviation or aerospace standards.Ability to closely follow and understand electrical diagrams as well as Fluid diagrams(P&ID).Has Experience with AutoCAD.Has experience with Data Acquisition systems, instrumentation, and general electronics.High school diploma or equivalent certificateExperience using Calibrated tooling such as Torque Wrenches, multimeters etc.Experience concerning fluid fittings such as AN, MS, compression fittings etc.Ability to lift 50 lbs., work in adverse weather conditions, and climb stairs/ladders.Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position.Must be willing to work all required shift hours, including overtime and weekends, as needed.Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and chip in to a culture of inclusion.Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylumPreferred Qualifications:
8+ years’ experience with Production on launch vehicle processing for flight operations to include Launch and Recovery Ops, Rocket and or Crew capsule system Maintenance, Integration and Test.A&P license, Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) certification or training. Associate degree in an engineering, technical, or mechanical field.Experience working on and around cryogenic systems such as LOX, LN2, GH2 and LNG.Ability to use Calibrated tooling such as Torque Wrenches, Multimeters, Dew Point Meters, Depth Gauges, Borescopes etc.Proven experience working with and troubleshooting mechanical systems, high pressure fluid/pneumatic systems, or valve components.Test stand Build experience.Able to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced and challenging work environment.Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts.Experience operating aerial lifts, scissor lifts and any vehicles used for at height maintenance.Inclusivity Statement
