Engineer, Storage Engineering
Overview Job Purpose The Storage Automation Engineer is responsible for designing and managing the implementation of automation solutions for storage systems. This individual works as part of a results-oriented, Storage design team and supports other storage engineering and operations teams by simplifying and improving the automation of repeatable tasks and processes. Responsibilities Assist in improving storage engineering team productivity and execution with continued deployment/enhancement of tools and automation. Improve enterprise quality and availability of storage infrastructure using dashboards, scripts and automation tools Simplify, review and further improve the automation of repeatable tasks and processes, including build, deployment, alerting, monitoring, maintenance and day to day storage tasks. Knowledge and Experience Moderate experience coding with any combination of Perl, Ruby, Bourne, Python, Java, APIs, and others Experience with automation tools including but not limited to Ansible, Puppet, Jenkins, Chef, Terraform, or similar Scripting Skills: 2+ years of hands-on experience with scripting languages such as Python, Shell, or JavaScript. Proficiency in SQL and experience with database management and data manipulation. Experience with data visualization and business analytics tools like Tableau, PowerBI, or similar tools. Proven ability to write complex programs and implement custom algorithms. Tools Familiarity: Experience with tools like JIRA for issue/project tracking and Git or closely related version control systems & DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Artifactory, UrbanCode or other similar tools Experience developing or supporting software applications and build tools Maintain code quality, organization, and automation for Storage projects. Experience managing production operations, including data assurance, monitoring, alerting and notifications Basic understanding of disk storage subsystems and SAN switches including Hitachi, Nimble, NetApp, Qumulo and Brocade. Basic understanding of SCSI, NFS and CIFS protocols Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment with focus on timeliness, documentation, and communications with peers and business users alike Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels within the enterprise or outside the organization (executives, regulators, clients, etc.) Good English speaking and written skills Top-tier critical thinking and problem-solving skills Ability to work in a service-oriented team environment Project Management, organization, and time management Schedule This role offers work from home flexibility of 1 day per week.
