Positions are available in the Development Services, Water/Wastewater Operations, Stormwater and Engineering Divisions. These positions will utilize their technical expertise in activities associated with review of, and development of plans, specifications and other construction related documents for infrastructure projects. Employees at Metro Water Services (MWS) work around the clock to supply, treat, manage, and protect our water resources in a sustainable manner for the benefit of all who live, work, and play in our community. Our dedicated, diverse workforce provides high quality drinking water and the best in wastewater treatment, storm water management, and waste collection services for our customers in the Nashville-Davidson County area. Our employees work together to service more than 210,000 water and 216,000 sewer accounts along with over 150,000 curbside waste collection customers. We are looking for highly engaged individuals to join our team. Typical Duties + Performs technical engineering review for new development and redevelopment in the Metro Water Services’ service area applying associated industry, regulatory (Federal, State and Local), Metro Government and public health and safety standards. + Assures water and sewer projects are built in compliance to plans and specifications. + Assures all regulatory protocols, including disinfection, are adhered to during construction. + Manages design and construction contracts associated with water/sewer/stormwater infrastructure and treatment facilities. + Assists in developing water and sewer master plans using hydraulic models. + Prepares plans, specifications, and cost estimates for stormwater infrastructure, sanitary sewer systems, water collection and distribution systems, and water and wastewater treatment facilities. + Reviews, coordinates, negotiates, approves, and documents construction project field changes. + Responds to inquiries from contractors, consultants, citizens, legislators, and other Metro Departments / MWS Divisions. + Coordinates with other Metro Water Service (MWS) Divisions, Metro Departments and/or agencies on infrastructure-related projects. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university, Professional Engineering License and four (4) years of post-degree engineering experience. OR Professional Engineering License and four (4) years of engineering experience. NOTE: A Professional Engineering License from any state is required to apply for this position however, a Tennessee Professional Engineering License must be obtained prior to completion of the six-month probationary period. License Requirement: Valid Driver License Professional Engineer’s License Failure to obtain the Tennessee Professional Engineering License will terminate employment. Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply. Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
