As a Qualcomm Software Engineer, you will design, develop, create, modify, and validate embedded and cloud edge software, applications, and/or specialized utility programs that launch cutting-edge, world class products that meet and exceed customer needs. Qualcomm Software Engineers collaborate with systems, hardware, architecture, test engineers, and other teams to design system-level software solutions and obtain information on performance requirements and interfaces.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.Qualcomm is looking for software engineers to develop and optimize high and low level software for ARM CPU and Qualcomm DSP framework/application. The software will run in a multi-threaded embedded environment comprised of ARM CPU and Qualcomm DSP processors and hardware blocks. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in conventional signal processing and developing & optimizing embedded software in C/C++ for ARM & DSP’s. Exposure to Linux Kernel driver coding/debugging/supporting is desirable. Exposure to any HW blocks based acceleration experience is a bonus, like video encode/decode etc.
Responsibilities:
* Will be responsible for driving execution of CV software for Qualcomm mobile SoCs from pre-silicon to commercialization.
* Interact with cross functional technology teams to triage system level issues and propose solutions.
* Provide critical optimization services to enable high efficiency applications
* Provide local expert support for architecture and software ecosystem
* Provide expert support in debugging Linux device drivers on ARM (Kernel mode & User mode), and general ARM and DSP software debug support
Skillset / Experience:
* 1-3 years of strong programming skills in C/C++
* Good understanding of ARM and DSP architectures and fundamentals.
* Good understanding of VR (Virtual Reality), AR (Augmented Reality) and XR (Mixed Reality) systems.
* Deep understanding of computer architecture, including optimizing for cache performance.
* Well versed with the Linux based development environments.
* Strong ability to work well in various ARM environments, including: Linux Android, Linux Embedded, Linux Ubuntu. -Good knowledge of Linux programming (Linux device drivers, file system, POSIX calls, multi-threading etc).
* Experience in the development of complex embedded software
* Good understanding of build systems like make/scons
* Good knowledge of scripting languages (python, perl)
* Strong math and algorithm background, especially for signal processing
* Knowledge of fixed point programming techniques
* Comfortable programming in assembly
* No fear of refactoring ugly code
* Love of unit testing and automation
* Strong communication skills and ability to work well with a primarily US-based team.
* Must be able to work under pressure situations and be a problem solver and a team player.
* Past experience of working in Qualcomm and/or Qualcomm Snapdragon SoCs will be a big plus.
* Candidate must have very good understanding of the software lifecycle process.
* Excellent debugging skillset to debug complex system level issues including but not limited to use of HW debuggers like Lauterbach Trace32 is desirable.
