Summary This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-3 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-09 through GS-11. The ND-4 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-12 and GS-13. You will serve as a Signatures Integration Engineer in the Naval Architecture and Engineering Dept, Combatant Craft Division of NAVSRFWARCEN DET. Salary: ND-3 $62,020 - $97,544 ND-4 $89,939 - $139,036 Responsibilities You will conduct research and execute projects in experimental and operational arenas in regard to topside signature phenomenologies and mitigation technologies. You will use understanding of the unique requirements associated with reduced signatures on small high-performance boats that operate in heavy seas. You will guide and evaluate efforts and assess technical progress in relation to the established systems implementation schedule and resources. You will review plans, specifications, and cost estimates for technical adequacy. You will report progress and/or problems; and oversees design, development and testing requirements for hardware and related equipment. You will analyze test results, pro-actively seeks solutions, and recommends corrective action. You will use their understanding of the unique requirements associated with reduced signatures on small high-performance boats that operate in heavy seas. You will support acquisition, in-service, or research and development programs to ensure programs align to produce effective products through technical specification or detail design. You will support the fleet directly with knowledge of operations, test and evaluation, and engineering support of military boats and craft and their systems as well as experience with new technologies. --You will be responsible for accomplishing design, drawing development, calculations, system and component selection, analysis, troubleshooting, inspection, drawing validation, customer support and problem resolution. -You will provide technical assistance, independently determining approaches and solutions to solve complex warfighting needs. TO QUALIFY AT ND-03: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, ND-02 (GS-05/08 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
