The Opportunity:
CACI is looking for experienced, innovative, and motivated Journeyman Engineer to support the mission objectives and needs of the U.S. Navy in the Washington, DC area. The position is contingent upon award of contract.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for all aspects (performance, cost, schedule) and all phases (design and development) for a Navy shipbuilding program.
Work closely with Program Manager to perform the necessary tasks and submit deliverables.
Provides technical engineering knowledge, expertise and recommendations.
Lead all appropriate program briefings when required. Gives work direction, resolves problems, prepares schedules, and sets deadlines to ensure timely completion of work.
Assist in coordinating, analyzing, tracking, monitoring, reporting, and managing responses to contract deliverable submissions
Direct engineering personnel in formulating plans, designs, cost estimates, and specifications for development, maintenance, and modernization programs.
Assess and track shipbuilder reported corrective actions and analyze their effectiveness.
Provide and support structured process improvement activities - provide technical engineering knowledge - research and analyze current and future architecture limitations - provide guidance for software development activities
Provide assistance and participation in Integrated Baseline Review (IBR), Over Target Baselines (OTBs), Over Target Schedules (OTSs) and other design baseline review events
Participate in program meetings such as: Risk Reviews, Work Management Meetings, Lessons Learned Meetings, Requirements Reviews, Peer Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, and all Engineering Meetings.
Perform analysis and review of Cost Performance Reports, Contractor Funds Status Reports, and Contractor Cost Data Reports from the ship construction and post-delivery prime contractors.
Qualifications:
Required:
Must hold, or be able to obtain, a Secret clearance
BS in engineering or related field
10+ years of experience in an engineering discipline. Navy DoD and defense systems
Desired:
Master’s degree in engineering or related field
Experience in Navy DoD, Weapon Systems, DoD/DoN procedures and Policies (DoD 5000 process, Middle Tier Acquisition process)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
This position is contingent on funding and may not be filled immediately. However, this position is representative of positions within CACI that are consistently available. The proposed salary range for this position is:
