Position Overview
As an Automation Engineer at Powercor Manufacturing, you will play a key role in optimizing our manufacturing processes to enhance safety, quality and efficiency. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement, develop innovative solutions, and implement process enhancements that drive operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering principles, programming languages, and automation tools with a passion for optimizing workflows and improving efficiency.
Responsibilities
• Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, Robots, Vision Systems, and other control devices
• Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and debugging to identify and resolve issues
• Evaluate existing systems and processes to identify areas for improvement
• Collaborate with cross functional teams, including production, engineering and quality to implement process changes and ensure seamless integration
• Utilize data analysis techniques to identify trends, troubleshoot issues and make data driven decisions to optimize manufacturing processes
• Lead root cause analysis investigations to address process deviations, quality issues and equipment failures
• Day to day troubleshooting of equipment or production process complaints and concerns
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working on automation systems and equipment
• Assist in training junior automation technicians
Qualifications
• A post-secondary Engineering degree, diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 5 years experience with automated equipment
• PLC, HMI, & Servo programming experience with Allen-Bradley hardware
• Robot programming (ABB, Fanuc)
• Vision programming (Cognex & Keyence)
• Knowledge of industrial networks
• Strong programming, mechanical and electrical problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
