Responsibilities:
Provide engineering support for operations equipment and facilities to the Plainfield and Enfield Distribution Centers. Responsibilities include capital project implementation, commissioning, qualification, GMP improvement planning/execution, Building Management System (BMS & QMBS), Genetec (Security System) support, electrical/instrument equipment support, Veeva Vault (Quality Documents) support, and Health Safety and Environmental program support. The Building Automation Engineer provides system administration ownership of BMS/QBMS platforms including user access controls, automated alarm management, data capture and analysis, and system life cycle management.
Key Objectives/Deliverables:
Regulatory Compliance: Partner with Quality Assurance to assure that all building-related equipment and automation systems meet corporate standards, including, but not limited to drawing management, version management, commissioning, qualification, validation, change management, and system maintenance. Responsible for NALO’s Asset Delivery strategy.
Act as the Responsible Engineer (or backup) for North American Logistics Operations audit support in areas of Asset Delivery, Building Management Systems and TSA security.
Capital Project Management: Manage all aspects of capital projects. Includes identifying user requirements, executing commissioning & qualification activities, budgeting, cost management, and scheduling to meet business and customer expectations.
Equipment/Facilities Support: Support maintenance and operations to ensure all building systems and electrical / instrument equipment meet current and future customer and regulatory requirements. Serve as Responsible Engineer for local Building Management System which includes maintaining system access, providing periodic reports, and change management for the system.
Oversee the installation, validation, and maintenance of building management systems.
Security: Responsible for delivery, installation, and maintenance of security related physical assets.
Safety: Model safe behaviors within daily work. Provide support to the operational areas to address any safety concerns. Execute projects and activities according to HSE requirements.
Responsible for ensuring data integrity and good documentation practices while performing job tasks.
Veeva Vault (Quality Documents) controller support for engineering and maintenance team.
Conduct deviation investigations and root cause analysis for issues related to building systems.
Preparing equipment and/or construction specifications, drawings, scopes of work and estimates to submit bid packages to qualified contractors and monitoring the construction. This position will manage project activities and influence project team members to ensure that project scope, budget and schedules are maintained.
Ownership and creation of site procedures; including validation master plans, business continuity plans, and others.
Participate in the creation of the NALO Quarterly Temperature Report. Review alarms and provide guidance of impact, provide second person verification.
Provide security alarm report for bi-weekly NALO security meetings.
Basic Qualifications:
Degree in Engineering, instrumentation, or qualifications in other relevant BMS technologies with appropriate experience.
4+ Years of work experience within an operations/manufacturing environment supporting Building Management Systems.
Working knowledge of Industrial Communication Protocols such as Bacnet/Ip, Modbus, Hart, OPC, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/Ip.
Technical knowledge and work experience with building systems including HVAC, refrigeration systems, compressed air, water, chilled water, boilers, etc.
Work experience with Johnson Controls Metasys building management system (BMS) operation and documentation.
Working knowledge of cGMPs, Regulatory Requirements, Computer System Validation, Root Cause Analysis Methodologies and change management.
Additional Skills / Preferences:
Knowledge of Genetec (Security System) and Veeva Vault (Quality Documents).
Understanding of contractor health and safety programs as they relate to selection of contractors to conduct work on Lilly premises.
Experience with the principles of lean manufacturing to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Ability to function in a team environment.
Effectively manage and prioritize competing priorities.
Strong understanding of electrical and instrumentation systems.
Strong verbal and written communications skills. This role must effectively communicate with Management, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, HSE, and outside regulatory inspectors. Must provide regular updates, conduct meetings, and produce presentations.
Strong self-management and organizational skills.
Capital project management experience.
Additional Information:
NALO sites operate on a 24/7 Basis. This role may involve off-hours support to provide technical assistance, call-ins to respond to plant emergencies and occasional off-hours technical coverage during technical transfers and major project activity (E.G. Commissioning).
Occasional travel to Enfield, CT is required (normally 5 – 15%).
