As a Product Yield Enhancement (PYE) Engineer, you will work with a team responsible for taking next generation devices from design to mass production. You will focus on driving component test yield and product reliability at new product introduction to enable rapid production ramp and early time to market. Your responsibilities will require using electrical and physical characterization techniques combined with statistical analysis to identify defects introduced by the fabrication process. Additionally, you will be responsible for communicating and coordinating back-end yield improvement activities with Management, Product, Process, and Test Engineering teams.

Identify causes of low yield through systematic analysisWork closely with various engineering groups to resolve fabrication process and defect related issuesPerform electrical and physical failure analysis to understand failure mechanismsUse statistical tools for detailed data analysis on product to drive yield improvement projects

Required Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.Coursework in VLSI, device physics, semiconductor process, Python, and statistics are desirable

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Perform Electrical Failure Analysis and Fault IsolationOperate uMate bench test platformCharacterize or model backend test, internal qualification, and RMA fail signaturesExtensive understanding of physical and logical semi-conductor designUse layout/schematic to aid in fault isolation and fail signature modelingUnderstand various PFA and de-processing techniques for failuresUnderstanding Fabrication Process and Package AssemblyIn depth understanding of CMOS process fabrication levels, steps, and methodologiesKnowledge of the steps and details involved in the package assembly flowUnderstand reliability concerns that can cause delayed breakdown fail signaturesExtensive expertise with process and assembly related defects as well as their causes and effectsProvide clear and comprehensive fail signature informationUnderstand probe, backend test, and qualification flowsGenerate organized and timely failure analysis reports with clearly communicated causes and effectsPerform fab, probe, and backend data extractions to provide supplemental data

Successful candidates for this position will have:

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skillsStrong grasp of concepts regarding thorough investigative procedureComputer aided layout and schematic experienceSemiconductor process coursework and/or experienceUNIX and Programming experienceExperience working in teams and ability to work well with othersSolid GPACourse work in VLSI design and semiconductor device physics (Preferred)Good communication skillsSelf-motivation and enthusiasm
