Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Design Engineering - Chassis (DEC) Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Engineer interested in developing chassis systems for future vehicles such as passage vehicles and Trucks. As a chassis design engineer, you will be able to learn and master various chassis systems – suspension/axle, tire/wheels, shifter, steering systems, brake system and controls, Truck, Car, SUV frames, and more. Due to the critical nature of our parts/systems, we ensure the balance of Quality, Dependability, and Reliability (QDR) with dynamic performance and appeal.
The current position is in a group that is developing chassis components for unibody vehicles produced in North America.
Reporting to the DEC Sr Manager of various groups, the person in this role will support the DEC’s objective to design and develop chassis components and systems to guarantee performance, safety, and competitiveness.
What you’ll be doing
Take designs from platform concepts, all the way through to Vehicle line off, and beyond to maintain competitiveness and quality.Learn new skillsChassis systems Modeling and experiencing of resultsChassis design considerationsNew materials and manufacturing methods (chassis uses everything from curing rubber to machining steel to wiring)Develop chassis systems using predictive tools to achieve vehicle dynamic targets and realize the actual performance through component/system/vehicle development.Develop suspension & other chassis components and systems that will achieve our customers’ desires for driving performance.Apply mechanical strength knowledge in analyzing chassis components to achieve strength/durability targets.Work with our partners – related R&D divisions, plants, suppliers, purchasing & TMC-chassis - to realize those component designs into quality production level parts.What you bring
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in an engineering discipline3 or more years of Industry experience in mechanical part and systems design(Passenger Vehicle, Truck)Experience with CATIA or other CAD softwareWhat you may bring
Experience with CATIA, FEA, and other Vehicle Simulation softwareExperience with the design and release of Toyota drawings or RDDPsExperience with Chassis electronics and/or controlsHands-on experience with chassis components (repairing or modifying)Experience in root cause analysis and determining effective countermeasures (Completed TBP panel – Preferred for Toyota internal candidates)Professional knowledge of DRBFM
