Engineer - Dose & Dispersion (Remote Eligible, U.S)
Job Description SummaryIn this role, the Engineer will be responsible for performing applicable analyses within the nuclear radiological dose and dispersion area. You will also be responsible for the safety analysis engineering function within Core & Fuels Engineering to support GEH’s next generation of Light Water Reactor (LWR) the BWRX-300, next generation reactor designs (GEN 4) and products, designs and services related to servicing our existing fleets & fuel.

Essential Responsibilities:

Perform technical evaluations and provide technical support in the areas of on and offsite dose consequences and dispersion. This includes the development of core, coolant, fuel pool, and system source terms, as well as considerations for keeping worker doses As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) and protection of the public.Effectively communicate and coordinate activities with internal and external project managers, technical personnel, and customers on engineering/technical issues.Maintain and/or exceed baseline project schedule and cost in delivery of nuclear fuel reload engineering deliverables.Prepare, document and present technical data to internal and external customers.Contribute to team process improvements to drive speed and simplification.Ensure work is performed with high quality in accordance with NRC rules and regulations, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering Discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, or similar) from an accredited college or university.Minimum 2.5 years of experience in a Nuclear Radiological Engineering capacity.

Eligibility Requirements:

Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time as required.This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to U.S. export-controlled technology.  GE will require proof of U.S. person status prior to employment.The preferred work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC; but highly qualified (US based) remote candidates will be considered.

Self-starter, energizing, results oriented, and able to multi-task.Eager to learn and expand skills.Excellent teamwork, coordination and communication skills.Experience with BWR technology and sodium fast reactor technology.Knowledge of plant operational support.Knowledge of reactor licensing requirements.Experience with RADTRAD, ARCON, PAVAN, XOQDOQ, GALE, WinMACCS, SCALE, ORIGEN, MCNP, GASPAR, LADTAP.Object-oriented programming experience such as Java, C#, C++.

The salary range for this position is $80K - $105K. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
