Job Description

OceanaGold are seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and reliable Engineer-Geotechnical (Level 2) to ensure geotechnical-related concerns are addressed and or mitigated by effective planning and implementation of geotechnical plans and procedures. De-risking the UG mining operation against adverse geotechnical conditions that present a risk to the short and long-term objectives of the Didipio operation.  This job includes providing geotechnical support and education to the workforce providing technical support to establish safe and efficient paste-filling operations, monitoring the implementation of the ground control management and paste-fill management plans and performing daily to monthly geotechnical functions of the geotechnical section. The role will report to the Supervisor–Geotechnical.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

Review and update Trigger Action Response Plans (TARPs)Develop and implement data acquisition, geotechnical modelling, and ground control standards, procedures, and processesReview and implementation of PHMP ground and strata instability plan (underground and surface), GCMP, and Paste fill Management planPrepare and implement ground support designs and plans (Cable bolt, Ground Support Standards and rehabilitation plans)Analyse and interpret geotechnical data (i.e. rock mass rating, laboratory testing, mapping, logging and modelling)Inspect active and inactive underground headings, and surface landforms within the mine site and identified community areaManage and analyse UG and surface monitoring systems (Prisms, inclinometer, radar)Implement geotechnical plans to address risks and challenges identified and create and manage geotechnical structural modelsPrepare monthly, quarterly, and annual cost control and forecastingFollow up with contractors, suppliers, and consultants regarding deliverables to ensure timeliness of delivery and completeness of supplies

QualificationsBehaviour consistent with OceanaGold Values and the OceanaGold WayLicensed Mining/Civil Engineer or GeologistWith 2-3 years of experience in underground mining industryWith 2-3 years of experience in Geotechnical Software and Monitoring SystemsKnowledgeable in rock mechanics and or geotechnical engineering fundamentalsWith good communication including technical writing, planning and scheduling and presentation skillsWith a valid Professional Driver’s LicenseDrive for continuous improvement and innovation
