Engineer - H&H

The Opportunity

Ulteig is seeking an ambitious and talented Engineer to join our growing H&H team to help advance our technical capabilities and collaborative culture toward providing innovative solutions that facilitate the development, design, and construction support of transportation and renewable energy projects. The selected candidate will be involved with the design and management of small-to-large multi-discipline projects and support business development efforts.

 

What You’ll Do

Design and analyze hydraulic features such as bridges, culverts, storm drain systems, etc. Perform 1D and 2D hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling to evaluate impacts and meet design requirements. Develop scour countermeasures and streambank protection for mitigation impact assessment. Develop and review technical reports including H&H studies, drainage reports, CLOMR, LOMR, No-Rise Certification, and Floodplain Development permits. Work closely with and guide engineering technicians and design engineers. Check design computations performed by the internal civil design team when appropriate. Review plans and specifications for constructability, safety, and risk management considerations. Work closely with business and engineering staff across multiple offices and technical disciplines. Exhibit proactive attention toward meeting project objectives (i.e. quality, schedule, budget). Support team and market efforts toward high-value client engagement, business development, and proposal development. Stay engaged with industry trends and advancements in water resources.

 

What We Expect from You

B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Professional Engineer (PE) licensure for North Dakota or South Dakota, or ability to obtain within 6 months. CFM preferred. Minimum 6+ years of experience in water resources/drainage-related projects. Experience with GIS and 1-D modeling software such as HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS is required. Experience with Bentley OpenRoads or AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred. Experience with bridge scour analysis and countermeasure design using methods outlined in HEC-18 and HEC-23 is preferred. Experience with advanced modeling software such as XP-SWMM, HEC-RAS 2D, SMS:SRH-2D, and/or InfoWorks ICM is preferred. Proficiency in generating drainage reports and impact studies for roadway projects. Experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) required. Strong communication, leadership, planning, and mentoring skills. Must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S.

Additional Opportunity Details:
Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $91,000- $123,000
* Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your job-specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role, and comparison to other employees already in this role
