The Position

By accelerating clinical research, streamlining workflows, and expanding assay menus, we are broadening access to genomic data and lowering barriers to adoption. From robust sample isolation and preparation tools to novel sequencing technology and advanced bioinformatics, we are developing differentiated, highly integrated end-to-end solutions for next-generation sequencing, resulting in a sample in, result out workflow.

The Engineering Technician/Buyer role will join the Roche Sequencing Solutions Division, a dynamic engineering team at Roche. This individual has a deep understanding of engineering principles, procurement processes and has experience in an R&D environment. The Engineering Technician/Buyer role encompasses a hybrid of technical and procurement responsibilities, crucial for the operation of our engineering labs, prototyping activities, and small-scale production runs.

You will coordinate cross functionally with various stakeholders and Engineering to identify changes to the BOM and provide necssary updates to the procurement team

You will be responsible for purchasing, inventory management, vendor assessment and approval

You will be responsible for lab equipment maintenance

You will be responsible for mechanical and electrical assembly tasks; operating lab equipment

You will be responsible for process documentation

This position is based on-site in Santa Clara, CA.

Who you are:

(Required)

You have a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or relevant field with 3+ yrs of experience in an electromechanical technician role with purchasing experience.

You have a demonstrated understanding of electrical and mechanical systems and their integration.

You have a demonstrated level of proficiency in mechanical and electrical assembly tasks.

You have a demonstrated ability to maintain and organize engineering lab environments.

You have demonstrated ability to read Mechanical engineering drawings and Bills of Materials; strong documentation skills for process and procedure creation.

​You have demonstrated experienced in Microsoft Excel and Word.

You have a demonstrated level of strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner; you excel at problem-solving skills and the ability to work under minimal supervision.

Preferred

You have experience working with automation systems; proficiency in mechanical CAD software.

You are familiar with supplier approval processes and quality control measures; you have experience with managing inventory systems and supplier relationships.

You have demonstrated knowledge of GMP/ISO standards; experience with ERP systems or procurement software.

You have previous experience in a highly regulated industry such as medical devices or pharmaceuticals.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Santa Clara, CA is 58,000 - $129,000.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
