The Engineer I develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods.

Evaluates and develops manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operatorsImproves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, equipment layout, and workforce utilizationAssures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processesProvides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirementsPrepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trendsMaintains and complies with government product regulationsKeeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special serviceMaintains product and process data base by writing computer programs; entering dataConfers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methodsLeads efforts to reduce set-up time and increase throughput to achieve and sustain 95% OTD through the use of deployment and strategic business growthPromote and facilitate shop floor work flow analysis and creating/implementation of standard work to achieve improvement priorities

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in engineeringTeam work, presentation, project management, and verbal/written communication skillsAbility to work effectively at all levels of the organizationAbility to lead, train, and drive changeAbility to multi-task effectively and work in a fast-paced environment
