Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Sustain manufacturing processes, technologies and methods to assure Plant metrics Compliance ,Safety ,Quality , Cost , Delivery , Morale , Innovation  Cost, Assures CSC Compliance through the proper process documentation, Audit findings follow up , monitor and control KPI at designed levels (CPK/SIGMA process scrap  , Kaizen , Cost Reduction  , product cost , FPY ,etc ),Participate in RCA  , assure the Process lines and stations have all the required tools and fixtures to perform  with safety , quality and at the designed operation level

Supports and validates automation and fixturing required equipment in support of a new product / technology introduction. Maintains knowledge of the latest developments in their area of expertise  , validates reliability  , safety and project improvement on all implementations

Key Responsibilities Execute tasks on projects generate Automation designs and successful equipment implementations Sustains and improve automation project cost, quality, and capability Generates BOMS , Design documentation packages , support documents  , and all verifications for new Automation and Fixturing equipment, assure successful manufacturing installation through EEM , MOC , Safety Validations , Ergonomics etc Role includes individual contributor and project work-stream activities, such as leading DESGN projects, capital tracking, task follow up , status preparation , data communication , tollgates preparation , implementation control , data generation etc. Project Management, team Member and work stream Project leader on all assigned Automation projects Audits Received goods Scope of work/ technical scope Compliance, to assure specified requirements and specs are meet  , provides full SISTEMA , Ergo and SOW Compliance Report. Utilize statistical tools, engineering data, and DMAIC/DESGN/Lean/MEE/TRIZ methodologies to deploy and validate Automation solutions Apply knowledge of engineering principles and methods to resolve challenges, support problem-solving in manufacturing, including root cause identification and resolution , aligned with documentation policies Participate in solution implementation related to process issues on Customer Notifications Document safety and ergonomic analysis on designed operations and processes Implement Safety and Ergonomic improvements on Designed areas Executes mechanical  , electrical , electromechanical design generation / validation , provides feedback report Propose and implement iKaizen and Safety iKaizen (ergonomic devices and processes) to enable a safe work environment; support and perform 5S implementation in work area to achieve Plant goal Participate as a T1 CSC when required Executes , fabrication, off-line integration, testing, installation, production start-up support, training of plant personnel and technology transfer . Supports and monitors solutions to Automation and fixturing implementation Supports Automation and operational equipment qualifications and initial training Leads prototype integrations , works with technical support Experiences/Education - Required

Education.

Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree or higher in relevant discipline Bilingual (English and Spanish) ,Intermediate may be acceptable

 

Work Experience.

0-2 years required, 1 years desired of experience in Process/Manufacturing engineering, Quality ,  NPI or Product Engineering in a multi-product manufacturing environment using Statistical Process Control or/ and Quality Control & Risk Assessment 1 year Experience in programming PLC (AB RSLogix, Controllogix, Siemens S7 and G&L) 1 year  of Equipment Development /Troubleshooting  experience Experiences/Education - Desired DMAIC Yellow/Green Belt Training Working knowledge of manufacturing Process Control , Manufacturing instructions and process documentation is recommended Project management or Task Tracking methods RCA Sigma Tools demonstrated knowledge Statistical understanding Process Capability , deviation ,  Measurement System Analysis Professional knowledge of MS Office (particularly MS Excel software, MS Word, SPC XL desired, Visual Basic a plus) Basic Knowledge of Minitab , SPC or equivalent statistical software Good communication skills required Must be Data Driven, able to work in a team environment, while being capable of working independently in a dynamic, business/manufacturing environment. Community of practice     HMI programming Ability to program in ladder logic Understanding of electrical implementation practices, control systems integration, controls architectures, PLC’s, electro-mechanical drive systems, vision system Understanding electrical schematics and prints Mechanical design Integration and Troubleshooting of electrical control panels
