Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
• Assess customer and engineering requirements to develop a technical Statements-of-Work (SOW) for the design, development, and fabrication of new test equipment, test apparatus and fixtures, and the upgrade and maintenance of existing equipment.
• Efficiently design, develop, and fabricate test equipment as required for confirming GT products performance characteristics and modes of failure with accurate, repeatable, and reproducible data.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to refine test plans and assure that agreed testing programs are measuring relevant performance criteria and are achievable.
• Partner with internal staff and external contractors on the build of various test equipment including fabrication, welding, machine controls, and data capture.
• Ensure that test equipment is designed with appropriate factor-of-safety margins, safety controls, and shielding, and coordinate with site safety manager to develop a comprehensive Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
• Run new testing equipment and programs to troubleshoot any issues and confirm correct operation. May include fully running testing program from start to finish.
• Confirm that equipment is operated in a safe manor by trained employees.
• Develop and maintain a budget and project plan and manage performance to plan including communicating progress and recovery actions as needed.
• Test projects are to be managed from conception through completion.
• Responsible for the utilization of all resources available to the Product Test Laboratory including equipment and suppliers.
• Effectively utilize in-house tool shop and maintenance and machining capabilities and perform in-house vs outsource cost-benefit analysis.
• Ability to work with hand tools and various instruments.
• Strong math, computer programming, and electronics skills.
• Analyze and reduce test data for customer presentation accurately in an organized and understandable format.
• Write test reports for customer presentation with sufficient detail that test can be repeated with a high degree of accuracy.
• Must be able to self-start on projects, and work both independently and as part of a team.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education/Certifications: BS, Mechanical Engineering or related degree required; BSME, post graduate specialized industrial training desired
Skills and Experience:•
3+ years mechanical design experience preferably in development of test or industrial manufacturing equipment, including CAD design program proficiency3+ years of combined work experience/educational background related to SCADA systems, including the ability to create and carry out continuous improvement for PLC logic-based sequenceAble to create electrical/mechanical schematics, technical drawings, and manualsCapable of assembly / disassembly tasks as required for development, test system build, and maintenanceFamiliarity with Allen-Bradley PLCs, Delta Motion Controllers, Keyence Data Acquisition, or similar required, and LabView control systems preferredSolid Works Certification strongly desiredHigh-level working knowledge of MS Office applications including MS Excel, Power BI, and MS ProjectComfortable with the use of hand and power tools required to fabricate and run product test equipment, including wood, plastic and metal working toolsExperience with electronic instrumentation experience including surface profilometers, optical comparators and dimensional measurement toolsFamiliarity with statistics and test methodologies including gage R&R and development of a control test, as needed Ability to work well in cross-functional team environments and lead complex design and build projectsPreferred:
