We are looking for an Engineer II to join our team!

Important Note: This role is considered safety sensitive, and as such, you may be required to undergo various background screenings. This may include but is not limited to a driving record abstract, criminal check, a company sponsored medical and drug testing.

What You Will Do:

Second level position in the engineering series for the Gas Distribution Engineering Group, which plans, designs, and manages gas pipeline installation of steel and plastic pipe below 60 psig.

This position will provide engineering support to our Operations, Inspection, Pre-Construction groups.

Expected to have strong competencies in pipe network analysis, project management, sizing and design of gas main and services, and in working in cross-functional teams.

Use modeling software to determine system needs and requirements for projects. Calculations will include, but not limited to, analysis of gas system pressures, capacities, damage assessments, and economic feasibilities.

For Project Management, the engineer must have experience in creating bid documentation, such as price schedules and material quantities, Request for Bids (RFBs), and assisting in reviewing the project contracts.

The position requires coordinating with cities, other government agencies such as the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), property owners, customers, etc.

Who You Are:

3+ years of relevant engineering experience.

Knowledge and application of engineering theories and principles, concepts, and fundamentals.

Requires developmental experience in a professional engineering position.

Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives.

Understands and can apply knowledge of configuration management.

Ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Synergi Gas, Excel, etc.).

Planning, organizational and project management skills.

Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices.

Pipeline engineering and design experience is preferred.

Education:

For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:

Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or

Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.

Preferred: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering

Physical Requirements (Include but are not limited to):

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
