POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for collaborating with other engineers on designing and developing electronic architecture and PCB assembly circuits for MSD products.  This position will ensure implementation of best practices and procedures are followed on all production of analog/digital electronic design.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Participate in all phases of product development including feasibility, design, verification, validation, transfer to manufacturing and lifecycle support. Test, debug and failure analysis of PCBs, devices and systems using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other instruments. Develop and create documentation on assembly of PCB circuits for MSD products.  Development of test plans and fixtures for power supplies, analog/digital sensors, low light level sensors and interfaces, motion, fluidic and temperature controls, instrument wiring and cabling designs. Develop processes and procedures for electronic product development including microcontroller-based control boards. Generate requirements, specifications and theory of operations. Generate schematics, BOM and test procedures. Verify COTS components. Support instrument EMC and safety tests.  Perform process improvement/development analysis and execution. Specific duties may vary depending upon departmental requirements.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.  Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.  A minimum of eight years of progressive experience in electronic circuit design/development. Experience in an ISO or cGMP environment preferred. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Strong electronics circuit design fundamentals and analytical background. Logical problem solving and demonstrated ability to organize and move project tasks forward in an orderly and structured fashion. Strong communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to translate information into meaningful, understandable context and message, regardless of format. Attention to detail and commitment to excellence demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes. Demonstrated ability to independently design and execute project planning, troubleshooting, optimization and validation. Understanding of ISO and/or FDA cGMP standards and their documentation requirements preferred. Proficiency in MS Office suite and engineering computing software is required (graphics editing, statistics, etc.)   Knowledge of Python preferred. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected including the ability to multi-task in an environment with changing priorities

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is frequently required to sit and stand for long periods. The individual is occasionally required to walk; use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the office.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is performed in an electrical engineering/laboratory environment.

COMPENSATION SUMMARY

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $98,800 to $150,700. This salary range represents a general guideline as MSD considers other factors when presenting an offer of employment, such as scope and responsibilities of the position, external market factors, and the candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, education and experience. Employees may qualify for a discretionary or non-discretionary bonus in addition to their base salary. These annual bonuses are intended to recognize individual performance and enable employees to benefit from the Company's overall success.
