Howden South Africa Division is looking for an Engineer in Training (Graduate) for an opportunity to gain experience within the Howden Power departmental operations with the view to substitute in a junior capacity in any of the Howden Power Departments.
• Spend approximately five months with each of the Howden Power Departments to learn the basic aspects of their respective operations.
• Work on a running outage as a support to the QC and supervisor for 3 months.
• Undertake diverse in-house tasks assigned by competent staff (as described by their JD’s) to gain working experience of the Howden Power products, design, applications, manufacture, spares, project management & quality assurance.
• Submit documentation produced in items 2 above for checking & approval (signed-off) by senior staff to ensure correctness & that errors are not carried through to production.
• Provide a resource for fan & air heater testing to assist the test engineer in carrying out his activities.
• Attend sites accompanied by other staff to gain working experience of the Howden Power operations.
• Upon completion, be able to provide a simple example of a complete job (tender, design, manufacture) demonstrating an ability to substitute in a junior capacity in any of the Howden Power Departments.
• SOX Compliance: Adhere to Sarbanes Oxley and AX controls.
• BEng/ BSc/ B-Tech in Mechanical Engineering including Project and Industrial placement modules.
• Has demonstrated potential (interview & engineering aptitude test).
• Computer Literacy in MS package.
• Excellent command of both written and spoken English.
• Competent written communication.
• Develop personal confidence.
• Gain more experience in the application of the Howden product range.
• Valid driver’s license.
