Raba Kistner is seeking a detailed-oriented, dependable Engineer-In-Training III to join our Infrastructure team in Midvale, UT. Under immediate supervision, assists in directing project office operations including construction inspection and material testing operations to ensure compliance with project plans, approved shop/working drawings, and specifications. Responsibilities include: 

Contact supervisor for priorities and deadlines in the field.Apply engineering principles, methods and techniques to the assurance of highway and related facility construction.Perform engineering calculations.Perform research and problem solving of engineering-related activities.Prepare, review, and/or approve reports.Serve as lead worker for less experienced workersObserve, measure, and conduct tests of materials to determine construction compliance with the project plans, approved shop/working drawings, and governing specifications.Ensure the safe utilization, storage and maintenance of all documents and tools.Update Direct Report on progress and delays on every task or assignment.Meet established project deadlines.Submit accurate, legible, comprehensive and complete testing and/or inspection reports on a daily basis in accordance with project Quality Plan.Review plans, specifications, and shop/working drawings for project activitiesUnderstand, adhere, and participate in the Raba Kistner Health & Safety and BBS Programs, setting a good example of our safety standards. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering which has been accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET)Minimum of three (3) years engineering related experience in transportation engineering with applicable towards gaining licensure as an engineer by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers. Graduate level education may be substituted for years of experience.Certified as an Engineer-In-TrainingPossess a valid driver’s license within the applicable jurisdiction and meet firm’s auto insurability requirements.

Intermediate in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Must be self-motivated with good attendance record and be able to work independently. Able to analyze, problem-solve, and recommend solutions. Considerable knowledge of engineering fundamentals, principles, practices, and methods. Some knowledge of The State specific Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices or National Manual of Uniform Traffic control Devices approved by the Federal Highway Administrator as the National Standard. 

Ensure safe usage and maintenance of company vehicle and field equipment. Able to drive company vehicle, manage and complete all assigned jobs, efficiently and on time. Able to maneuver over rough and uneven terrain.

May be occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, wet or humid conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.

This position may require protracted or irregular hours. Flexibility to work irregular hours is necessary due to client needs.
