Your Opportunity 

Stantec's multi-disciplinary office in Tampa, Florida has an opportunity for a highly motivated Transportation Engineering Intern. This is a paid internship position with part-time or full-time hours during Fall of 2024 or Spring of 2025. We believe training, collaboration, and connections are strengthened by working alongside team members. Therefore, this is primarily an office position with limited remote work (if any) anticipated. 

The ideal candidate should be technical thinker with beginner level experience in transportation engineering and traffic planning. Must be able to work collaboratively with a team of engineers and designers at all levels to deliver quality plans to clients. 

Your Key Responsibilities

Assist with transportation impact studies, traffic data collection and data analysis, report writing, and other technical assignments. Collect traffic data via publicly available sources and field visits. Analyze traffic data using Microsoft Excel. Perform traffic analyses using HCS, Synchro, SIDRA, VISSIM, and Cube. Support our roadway design and traffic engineering groups. Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials 

Good time management skills, be punctual, reliable, and capable of taking initiative. Detail oriented and organized. Ability to work independently and in a group. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and team environment. Excellent oral, written, and graphic communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word. and PowerPoint Exposure to HCS, Synchro and AutoCAD. An interest in transportation planning and engineering.  

Education and Experience

 Applicants must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree engineering program.  

Position will primarily be in an office setting; may require some field work to collect data. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
