General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) designs and manufactures first-of-a-kind electromagnetic and electric power generation systems.   GA-EMS’ expanding portfolio of specialized products and integrated system solutions support critical fleet, space systems and satellites, missile defense, power and energy, and process and monitoring applications for defense, industrial, and commercial customers worldwide.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer in the GA-EMS Systems Engineering department, located in Rancho Bernardo, CA.  The candidate with previous Systems Engineering experience will focus on supporting the U.S. Navy Ford-class Aircraft Launch and Recovery (ALRE) carrier programs.  This position is responsible for evaluating requirements based upon the U.S. Navy ALRE programs and adapting those requirements in accordance with foreign customer requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide technical analyses and judgement, using a Systems Engineering approach, for the development of a new configuration of the ALRE systems. Coordinate and interface with customers, contractors, and engineering groups, and other business sectors within the organization. May represent the organization as the prime technical contact. Assist in developing program plans, estimates, and schedules. Perform system analysis and generate system, sub-system, component, and software requirements to disseminate among subsystem hardware, firmware, and software design architects. Support the development of test plans, test procedures, and test reports.Experience with verification and validation of systems through qualification testing. Develop and present technical material for design reviews, including presenting to customers. Collaborate with subject matter experts to update design requirements.Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices
