Role Definition

As an Engineer - Mechanical Piping Lead performs Piping System design, Piping layout, and preparing Piping Isometrics and GAs. This role should demonstrate and support industrial gas turbine packaging and associated gas compression and power generation process and BOP systems engineering and design  

Work in close co-ordination with other functional team members of mechanical, technical project management. Frequent contacts with Packaging Team, Suppliers, Supply chain representatives, Controls, ELS,HMI and explain information related to assigned areas of work 

Job Responsibilities

The candidate should possess a minimum of 10 years of industry experience in engineering / design execution and associated applications. Experience should include significant, demonstrated results leading mechanical engineering efforts with piping systems design (including drafting techniques such as clash checks, piping isometrics, layouts and GAs) supporting industrial gas turbine packaging and associated gas compression and power generation process and BOP systems engineering and design.  Requires full use and application of standard engineering principles, concepts, and techniques of mechanical Piping design, drafting/CADs, with an understanding of established analytical/scientific methods and procedures. Able to interpret engineering drawings. Knowledgeable in the use and application of engineering analysis techniques. Familiar with standard gas turbine manufacturing, quality, design, and analysis methods.  In addition, the candidate should demonstrate knowledge of discipline-related industry standards, including ASME B31.3 & 31.8, and experience with standards application across engineering specifications and vendor documentation. Comprehensive familiarity with Autodesk applications and experience with Solar Turbines strongly preferred.  Effective working knowledge of application of 2-D and 3-D CAD tools in development of conceptual designs and production design deliverables of some complexity. Guiding modellers/drafters and team for best piping layout design as per industry norms.Design basis/standards for piping, selection and preparation of piping material specificationPerforms a permanent check on compliance with the layout rules specific to piping design (distance between runs, position of welds and openings)Develops the design and drafting of complex piping drawings given basic information such as P&ID's, GA's, piping specifications, equipment arrangement drawingsCoordinate with Piping Engineering Team and other design disciplines to resolve issuesPerform fieldwork, pulling measurements, locating tie-ins, as-building existing systems, develop detailed scopesDraft sketches, piping and instrument diagrams, and/or model 3D equipment items for Oil, Gas Plant.Knowledge on Gas Turbines and Packaging systems & components are added advantages.Coordinate with several functional team to progress the design intent (Hydro/Electrical/HMI Groups)Good Presentation skill and demonstrate the capability through Design Review MeetingMust apply practical design considerations and utilize technical knowledge to achieve design objectives relative to manufacturability, cost, quality, and durability.Continuously challenges self-skills in functional area and stays current with industry developments in one’s field of expertiseExcellent in modelling techniques using Creo parametric / Autodesk

Good exposure to the use of Product Lifecycle Management tool – Windchill

Good Exposure on ASME/API/ISO/ANSI & DIN

Qualification: 

A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited college or university or equivalent relevant experience.  Minimum 10 years of Mechanical Piping Design and Layout  Good communication, organizational, teaming and analytical skills are a must.  Working knowledge of computer aided design & drafting CADD system  Knowledge of gas turbine operations, and driven equipment  Field experience, knowledge on Windchill, BOP & Promis-e would be an added advantage.
