Engineer / Platform Administrator

Job Summary:
The ServiceNow Platform Administrator will be a key member of the ServiceNow Enterprise Service Management team, responsible for the day-to-day management, administration, and maintenance of the ServiceNow platform. The individual will ensure optimal performance of the platform and support end-users by managing incidents, service requests, and troubleshooting issues. The ServiceNow Platform Administrator will also support platform enhancements, integrations, and ongoing upgrades to ensure the platform meets organizational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Administration:
+ Perform daily health checks and alerts for both production and non-production instances.
+ Manage platform instances, including sandbox development and test environments.
+ Maintain integrations with third-party systems and manage catalog maintenance.
+ Manage queue and initial triage of all records submitted to the ServiceNow team.
+ Handle change management by creating, validating, and managing ServiceNow team-related change tickets.
+ Manage vendor service tickets via the ServiceNow Now Support portal.
+ Document operational procedures and tasks in the Knowledge Base and/or Confluence
+ Provide L1 on-call support, including patching, upgrades, application updates, and system clones, often during off-hours (approximately 5 times per month)
User & Group Administration:
+ Manage user and group assignments, including bulk updates.
+ Create and manage system roles, ensuring role delegation and access management.
+ Maintain base system roles and group maintenance.
Integration Management:
+ Oversee plugin activation and integration-related troubleshooting.
+ Provide support for integration issues.
General Housekeeping:
+ Perform data imports/exports and resolve foundation and configuration data issues.
+ Conduct regular monitoring and health checks on live instances.
+ Ensure system upgrades and clone management for sub-production environments.
+ Maintain Mid Server (installation, restart, maintenance).
Process & Module Management:
+ Maintain escalation matrices, service levels, and existing ServiceNow workflows.
+ Manage notifications, adherence to change management standards, and developer integration.
+ Build and manage dashboards and reports using Performance Analytics (PA).
+ Ensure the utilization of PA collectors and data jobs for tracking and KPI measurement.
Operational Reporting & Governance:
+ Participate in operational team meetings and provide necessary status reports.
ITOM Event Management and Monitoring Tools Support (L1):
+ Provide first-level diagnosis and resolution of incidents related to ITOM Event Management.
+ Perform initial triage and Level 1 troubleshooting for monitoring tools integrated with ServiceNow.
+ Assign incidents to Level 2/3 resources and assist in the migration of non-integrated sources.
+ Provide on-call support for major incidents during off-business hours.
Skills and Qualifications:
+ ServiceNow Administrator Certification (Advanced Administrator Certification preferred).
+ 2+ years of experience as a ServiceNow System Administrator in a large organization.
+ Experience with ServiceNow modules (Incident, Problem, Change, Knowledge, Service Catalog, Service Portal, CMDB).
+ 1+ year experience as a ServiceNow Developer (Developer Certification is a plus).
+ Strong understanding of the application development lifecycle, including requirement analysis, quality assurance, design, scheduling, implementation, issue tracking, and version control.
+ Experience in agile methodologies and ServiceNow workflows.
+ Ability to assess risks, benefits, and provide alternatives for platform improvements.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other technical field or equivalent work experience
+ 3 to 5 years of Engineering experience
+ Sound knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
+ Knowledge of industry standard practices
+ Knowledge of systems design concepts that provide security and stability
+ Deep knowledge of Operating Systems and/or Application Development Platforms
+ Ability to debug code and/or complex log files for troubleshooting and analysis of product defects
+ Sound understanding of application engineering concepts
+ Knowledge/experience with querying databases for data lookup/update
Additional Skills:
+ Experience in managing ServiceNow instances, clones, patching, and upgrades.
+ Knowledge of maintaining platform security, access control lists, and user/group administration.
+ Ability to research and recommend automated solutions for system administration tasks.
+ Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking mindset.

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $79,938.00 - $108,152.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
