Northrop Grumman is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer specialized in the ceramic, PWB, CCA, or RF commodities to join our Supplier Performance Management Field Engineering team. This team supports programs with suppliers across the United States and Internationally. The location of this position is the San Diego, CA area. This position works a 9/80 schedule and will travel an estimated 75% of the time.
What You'll Get to Do:
· Collaborate in a team environment, negotiate and integrate different viewpoints, prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project results.
· Represent the company with credibility, confidence and professionalism.
· Perform Specification Compliance Reviews, First Article Inspections and Source inspections on various categories of hardware. Ceramic, PWB, CCA, or RF commodities are required.
· Understands continuous process improvement (CI) and can effectively develop and execute CI initiatives and activities.
· Initiate Corrective Action Plans and work with suppliers, manufacturing and engineering personnel to identify root cause and ensure robust corrective actions are implemented.
· Analyze and interpret data to identify suppliers’ process issues and developing solutions.
· Perform process and product audits along with capacity assessments to ensure the supplier's processes are robust and capable, as well as compliant to Military and Space requirements.
· Effectively perform supplier surveillance activities designed to manage and improve supplier performance, productivity, and process validation.
· Apply technologies, scientific principles, theories and concepts to analyze and audit our suppliers’ processes and capabilities.
· Capable of leading cross-functional teams in pursuit of performance improvements aligned to department and organizational goals.
· Mitigate supplier quality risk to prevent/minimize business impact from supplied material defects.
· Proactive reduction and prevention of supplied material defect occurrences and verification of supplied material defect claims.
· Lead on-site supplier engagements, including performance reviews and QMS (Quality Management System) audits.
· Be able to analyze and present data to all levels of leadership.
· Strong communication skills (both oral and written).
· Understands general contracting principles in a Department of Defense and commercial environment.
· Establish positive working relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
Basic Qualifications for a Supplier Quality Engineer are:
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
· A minimum of years of experience in Quality, Manufacturing or Design Engineering and/or 2+ years of experience in Continuous Improvement.
· Relevant hardware inspection and verification experience.
· Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. US Citizenship required.
· Experience with ISO 9001 or AS9100 requirements.
· Experience in root cause analysis and corrective action.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Possess current DOD Secret Clearance.
· Experience working in the defense industry.
· Hardware inspection and verification experience.
· Process knowledge and manufacturing engineering in the microelectronics industry.
· Certification in J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620.
· Proficient knowledge in MIL-STD-883 Testing Methods
· Six Sigma or Lean certifications.
· Lead auditor experience to ISO 9001 and AS9100, AS9102 requirements.
· Training in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ANSI Y14.5M).
· ASQ Lead Auditor, CQE, CQM Certification.
