Engineer - Quality & Contin Improvement III - Weekend Day Shift

This role is part of the Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance team. This team is focused on monitoring and assessing processes that guide Blue Origin’s design, manufacturing, and operations, ensuring system safety engineering, environmental health, and safety, product integrity, and continuous improvement processes.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will Conducts internal production/process and manufacturing quality control audits and risk assessments. Prepares audit plans and understands the specific issues to be evaluated. Implements internal audits within established manufacturing and production controls to ensure compliance with in-house and external specifications and standards (i.e., GLP, GMP, ISO, Six Sigma). Develops formal written reports to communicate audit results to management and regulatory compliance agencies, if applicable, and makes recommendations as appropriate. May facilitate work of external auditors during on-site visits. May conduct vendor evaluation audits to determine qualifications. Manufacturing Quality Assurance work includes defining and specifying activities, processes, and standards to fulfill the quality requirements for a manufactured material, component, or product, building and maintaining the infrastructure and systems necessary to consistently ensure the timely delivery of quality products, auditing, monitoring, and determining the quality of manufacturing processes and/or outputs against defined internal and regulatory standards. Reporting and solving manufacturing process deviations and defects in finished goods.

Being at the heart of Blue Origin operations, the West Texas Site in Van Horn, TX offers eligible employee’s additional attractive financial incentives to supplement their competitive base earnings, including a living allowance and relocation assistance.  Eligibility for these additional benefits is based on the employee’s ability to permanently relocate to Van Horn, TX, or travel to Van Horn from another Blue location a minimum of 50% of the time.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Establish, implement, maintain, and enforce quality system processes that support products in development and production environments.Measure, analyze, and improve quality system performance consistent with organization quality goals.Review and approve manufacturing build documents including work orders and nonconformance records.Perform periodic audits of the application of our quality system in accordance with AS9100.Participate in engineering design reviews and make recommendations to improve the quality and manufacturability of new designs.Recommend and improve initiatives and/or changes that will improve product and system quality.Provide quality assurance domain expertise to inspection, manufacturing, and test for the Manufacturing team.Collaborate with internal and external customers on quality related concerns; develop and present training materials to build quality awareness.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of a B.S. in engineering/science3 to 5 years’ proven experience in the engineering field with at least 1 year in a quality engineer roleFamiliarity with AS9100 or ISO9000 Quality Management System and/or related quality systems and programsAbility to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion.Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as Machining, Welding, NDT, Sub-assembly, and Final assembly and Test.Quality assurance experience in rocket engine production environmentRelevant experience in transitioning a product from development, through production to operations.Shown experience in transitioning a product from development, through production to operations.QMS audit experience and quality performance measurement analysis capabilitiesAmerican Society of Quality, Certified Quality Engineer CertificationSix Sigma Green, Black Belt, or comparable CertificationFAA Airframe and Powerplant Certification
