Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Quality Engineer/Principal Quality Engineer to join our team in Sunnyvale, CA.  This role supports production activities for marine propulsion and power generation equipment.  It is a 100% on-site role and is a 4th shift role.  Friday, Saturday, Sunday "Days" - core hours of 5:30 am -5:30 pm. Compensation for 4th shift reflects working 36 hours but is paid for 40 hours.

Role and Responsibilities:Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.The Quality Engineer develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality issues are addressed through MRB and that production is supported.Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.Applies lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies in support of production Continuous Improvement activities.

This position can be hired at level 2 or the Principal level 3.

Basic Qualifications Engineer Quality:

Bachelor's degree in a related STEM field and 2+ years of experience in a quality assurance, mission assurance, or related engineering role.Must be familiar with standard Visual and Mechanical Inspection techniques and tools.Experience in reading/interpreting engineering drawings and specifications and familiarity with GD&TExperience participating in root cause analysis and corrective action (RCCA) activitiesGood computer skills: Proficiency in use of  Microsoft Windows, Powerpoint, and ExcelAbility to obtain a DoD Secret clearance (US Citizenship required).

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience using SAP in a manufacturing environmentFamiliarity with standard inspection and non-destructive testing techniques and tools in a fabrication, machining, and assembly environment.Expertise in reading/interpreting engineering drawings and specifications, including GD&TExperience developing, collecting, and analyzing metrics.Experience leading root cause analysis and corrective action activitiesExperience planning and managing projectsExperience conducting or managing internal auditsExperience in an ISO 9001/AS9100 Quality Management System EnvironmentExperience working on DOD contracts and on Supplier Quality efforts

Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00Salary Range 2: $97,500.00 - $146,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
