Summary You will serve as the Novel Radar Technology Lead in the Advanced Radar Systems Division (B40) in the Electromagnetic and Sensor Systems Department for NAVSURFWARCENDLD. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-5 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-14 and GS-15 Responsibilities You will provide technical leadership and oversight for the B40 Division Novel Radar Portfolio. You will function as the B40 Division Head primary advisor on novel radar concepts. You will be responsible for the coordination and application of general and specialized knowledge, skills, expertise and practices necessary for the effective implementation of novel radar projects. You will create and drive the implementation of the division novel radar roadmap, to include championing projects and training. You will lead B40 Science and Technology and hands-on Research and Development efforts to advance novel radar concepts. You will establish, regularly update and advance the Advanced Radar Systems Division Novel Radar Roadmap. You will interface with academia, industry and Department of Defense laboratories for the radar, combat systems, and multiple PEOs to aid in executing the Roadmap. You will interface and coordinate with the Navy, Marine Corps, Department of Defense, and Department of the Navy on emerging challenges and capacity gaps. You will develop detailed plans, tasks, milestone dates and schedules to ensure proper sequencing of events and tracking of processes and costs throughout the life cycle of the program or project. You will mentor, coach and provide guidance to junior and journeyman radar engineers in the facets of RF engineering, with particular focus on Novel Radars. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above) OR Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions. FOR THE 1301 - Physical Science Series: A degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that includes 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics; or, a combination of education and experience in one of the above majors that includes at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. FOR THE 1515 - Operations Research Series: A degree in operations research; or related degree that included at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses, and at least 3 of the 24 semester hours were in calculus. FOR THE 1520 - Mathematics Series: A degree in mathematics or the equivalent of a major that included at least 24 semester hours in mathematics; or, a combination of education and experience demonstrated by courses equivalent to a major in mathematics (including at least 24 semester hours in mathematics, plus appropriate experience or additional education. FOR THE 1550 - Computer Science Series: A degree in computer science or degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours were in a combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
