Job Title: Engineer / Scientist QC II

Group: Life Sciences and Laboratory Products Group (LSLPG)

A Day in the Life:

Perform fit-for-purpose testing, following operating procedures, in support of manufacturing including in-line and finished product release testing using various analytical techniques.Prepare standards and samples for analysis and run instrumentation with minimum supervision, as needed.Document and report analytical testing data in LIMS Database and in a laboratory notebook following good documentation practices.Assist in out of specification investigations by performing relevant testing and detailing appropriately.Make recommendations to method development chemist(s) regarding opportunities to optimize instrumentation methods. Provide general feedback on non-instrumentation method opportunities as well.Apply your knowledge of Lean Six Sigma Processes focusing on supporting continuous improvement activities.Maintain general lab housekeeping.Additional tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.

How will you get here?

Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field from an accredited university, or equivalent experience.Minimum of 3 years (5 years preferred) of industry or other relevant market experience, preferably in chemistry or bio/pharmaceutical industry.Hands-on experience with wet chemistry and basic Analytical instruments is required.Hands-on proficiency with HPLC/UPLC, GC, GC-MS, and other advanced instruments is preferred.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience running chromatography and spectroscopy related instruments (HPLC/LC-MS/GC/UV-VIS/IR/) with technical proficiency.Familiarity with Analytical test methods including ACS, USP/NF, EP/BP, JP, FCC strongly preferred.Strong computer, scientific, and interpersonal skills.Excellent communication (oral and written) with attention to detail, including problem-solving skills.Familiarity with reviewing laboratory notebooks and understanding testing performed using various Analytical Chemistry Techniques and instrumentation.Effective problem-solving abilities using Lean methods.Engage in process improvement initiatives to identify cost savings to the business.
