Essential Duties
Apply engineered rock mechanics principles to the design of ground support systems Inspections of ground and ground support conditions to ensure compliance with company standards, procedures and government regulation. Cooperate and work effectively with team members as well as other departments to communicate ground control issues and provide solutions to mitigate risks Keep associates, team members and supervisors adequately informed of actions, opportunities, problems and plans to enable each to perform their role. Clearly communicate both verbally and in writing such that misunderstandings are minimal and documentation is kept of decisions made Conduct underground site inspections of active work sites to ensure ground control programs are in place and compliance in maintained with MSHA and company standards Use in-house engineering and data software proficiently Proficiently use in-house ground control model to be used to predict ground movement and plan for necessary ground support installation Maintain a high level of knowledge of ground support technology and innovation Evaluate the rock mechanics of mining areas through the study of models, designs and processes in order to optimize ore extraction Manage Qa/Qc programs for ground control systems including rock bolts, backfill and shotcrete and ensure any non-compliance with standards is investigated, communicated and corrective measures are taken in a timely manner Ensure falls of ground are thoroughly investigated, documented and corrective actions are taken

Training & Experience
Preferred requirement: B.S. degree in Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or Geology and five (5) years of experience in an underground environment. Advanced level technical communications, personal interaction and presentations skills required
