ATTENTION APPLICANTS: This vacancy is being announced at two different job classes at the same time, Engineer Senior and Engineer 2 Graduate. The final class and starting salary are dependent on the successful applicant’s qualifications.
This position is in the State Aid Unit of the Bridge Office in Oakdale and has the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule or work in the office.¿ The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor.¿ The incumbent is expected to work in the office two days a week.
The role involves providing technical assistance to State Aid clients in preparing both preliminary and final local bridge plans and miscellaneous structures. The incumbent will have the responsibility and authority to approve these plans on behalf of the State Aid Bridge Plans Engineer (Principal Engineer) and ensure that best quality management practices are applied to all designs and project specifications.
The position requires a strong understanding of various bridge types, such as prestressed concrete beam spans, steel beam spans, concrete slabs, precast and cast-in-place concrete boxes, and innovative precast concrete bridge systems. The individual will also be knowledgeable in the design and construction of prefabricated steel truss pedestrian/bicycle bridges. This role will involve serving as a liaison to local agencies and consultants, providing technical support and sharing the latest bridge design practices and detailing methods used by the MnDOT Bridge Office.

**Responsibilities Include:**
+ Providing design and detailing assistance to state aid clients on a range of bridge types, including prestressed concrete beam spans, concrete slab spans, steel beam spans, timber bridges, precast and cast-in-place concrete boxes, and three-sided precast concrete structures.
+ Collaborating with the MnDOT Bridge Office, local agencies, and consultants to meet the latest bridge design standards and detailing practices.
+ Developing end-of-year reports and newsletters explaining changes related to bridge design, construction, research, and operations.

**Minimum Qualifications**
Engineer Senior Minimum Qualifications:
+ Licensure as a professional civil engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity. (If obtaining licensure through reciprocity, a practice pending letter from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR before starting employment.)
+ Experience in structural engineering practices sufficient to understand and appropriately apply design specifications.
+ Experience performing mathematics and geometric calculations.
+ Experience applying AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications, Guide Specifications, and MnDOT design standards.
+ Experience using computer software for structural analysis and bridge design.
+ Experience preparing technical information and reports.
Engineer 2 Graduate Minimum Qualifications:
+ A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university and two years of post-graduation civil engineering work.
**OR**
+ A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university and one year of post-graduation civil engineering work.
**AND**
+ Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
+ Knowledge of structural engineering practices sufficient to understand and appropriately apply design specifications.
+ Experience performing mathematics and geometric calculations.
+ Knowledge of AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications, Guide Specifications, and MnDOT design standards.
+ Experience using computer software for structural analysis and bridge design.
+ Experience preparing technical information and reports.
