Purpose of PositionResponsible for developing software for visual simulation system. Application areas include real time image generation; visual environment and model creation tools; display system design, measurement, and alignment; computer systems and information security. Entry level. Applies fundamental principles and concepts of engineering to the position. Performs routine aspects and progresses to more varied and complex activities with development of additional knowledge and experience in the subject matter. Works directly with senior Teammates. Work is closely observed and reviewed.
Tasks and Responsibilities Develops, supports, and maintains software components, interfaces, features, subsystems, and systems across the development cycle. As appropriate, applies skills in requirements identification and analysis; software design and construction; software testing and verification; problem identification and resolution; maintenance and troubleshooting; user support and multi disciplinary team collaboration. Uses disciplined software development methods, including construction techniques, test methodologies, configuration management, and software tools; uses and contributes to product and process management information systems and documentation. Consults with other software and hardware engineers as part of a team. Communicates between departments. Provides reports to management. Designs prototypes for new technologies, algorithms, structures, and processes. Conducts research and development. Supports computer system and hardware requirements, integration, and maintenance. Remains current on state of the art technologies through technical papers, periodicals, and conferences. Exhibits and practices professional and courteous behavior while interacting with both internal and external customers. Interacts within a cooperative environment through beneficial behavior, commitment to common goals, contribution to problem solving, communication of ideas and suggestions, and encouragement to other employees and departments. Accountable for the control and distribution of documents and or equipment subject to export control restrictions and the security of FSI materials, projects and business information regarding the methods and techniques used in the production and usage of FSI products. Accountable for the accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks. Able to adhere to a work schedule including prompt and regular attendance. Willingness to work overtime as necessary. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.Minimum Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other applicable technical field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other applicable technical field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Unreal engine developer experience C++ programming Game or graphics programming: e.g., OpenGL, Direct3D, HLSL, GLSL Object-oriented design Data structures and algorithms Technical Experience in any of the following areas is a plus: Strong mathematics capability – matrix algebra, projective geometry, vector math, etc. Game development STL and/or Boost libraries and data structures Design patterns and/or multi-threading experience MS Visual Studio Python or other scripting experience Reading and using technical specifications Lean/Agile software development Multispectral sensors, night vision and/or radar systems Geographic information systems (GIS)Physical Demands and Work Environment
