Engineer Technician

Engineering Technician This role can be based out of Eau Claire, WI or Wixum MI. Our Engineering Technicians are responsible for applying basic engineering structure, procedure and policy in internal and external areas of engineering. This role works across departments, product lines, and divisions to accomplish company goals and exceed customer expectations. Work is both technical and applied. Responsibilities: Create installation instructions for various electrical components. Translate technical information to clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel. Evaluate vehicle systems and log as design notes. Remove panels, protective shields and/or rear combination lights. Use multimeter, oscilloscope and/or test light to determine electrical functionality. Design, development and evaluation of product modifications to fit customer’s applications as well as design improvement and cost reduction efforts on existing products having significant impact on the company's operations. Provides design concept, development timetables for team review and approval. Prepare initial drawings and assist production of prototypes meeting the standards set by sound engineering principles, project goals and company needs. Establish, audit and review test programs necessary to produce project results in line with goals. Collaborate with customer regarding design, timelines and delivery. Travel to customer. Local travel typical and required for design evaluations. Driving during work hours, 1-2 days a week. Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to assure most efficient methods of manufacture and assembly within appropriate codes or regulations. Additional Job Responsibilities Assist finalizing all engineering technical documentation necessary for product release. Assist in the testing lab development of test set up to ensure a successful product qualification. Assist manufacturing with implementation into production including suggested parameters for tests of production units and preparation of final design revisions as may be required. Assist in establishing and/or upgrading internal engineering standards and practices (i.e. FMEA, product specifications, engineering specifications, etc.) Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Two-year degree in applicable engineering field Minimum of three years in electrical design and development recommended; i.e., in a specific field such as electrical hydraulics systems and/or electrical mechanical systems. Fundamental understanding of electronics and automotive electrical systems required. Must be capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments. Must be able to build relationships with customers and suppliers. Must be an effective communicator with all levels of personnel. Experience interpreting electrical engineering drawings required. Travel: Some local travel is expected for this position. Preferred Education and Experience: BS Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering preferred. Experience utilizing CAD software to create electrical drawings utilizing AutoCAD and/or Solidworks preferred. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work will primarly be performed in an office environment, but will also requre performing duties in a shop/lab settings environment. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The team member may have to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
