Duties include, but are not limited to:
Coordination of design and fabrication requirements for tools and fixtures with customers, both internal and externalPerforming tolerance analysis to ensure form/fit/functionConduct root cause failure investigations and implement associated corrective actionsDevelop & evaluate process improvementsAssist Product Development Team with new product designs to ensure manufacturability, validate process/technology.Managing all phases of project: design, document, fabricate, assemble and validateInterface with review team to assure customer satisfaction with designWork alongside the manufacturing team to ensure overall program quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achievedWork with internal Customers to concept needed support equipment for new and existing programsDeveloping tooling concepts, creating/reviewing, and improving manufacturing processes to meet Customer requirementsUnderstand/monitor cost and scheduleReview engineering drawings and designs for manufacturabilitySupport vendors as needed during fabricationCore Competencies
Manufacturing Methods - Knowledge of manufacturing, methods, fabrication processes (e.g., forming, stamping, machining, heat treatment, machines/machine tools, cutting tools and fluids, N/C programming, instrumentation, data acquisition and control systems). Ability to select the best method of producing parts, tools or assembliesProject Management - Successful project management and leadership experience. Coordination of design and fabrication requirements for tools and fixtures with customers, both internal and external.Computer Aided Design Tools - Basic knowledge of computer aided design tools and systems (e.g., computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM).Engineering Drawings & Specs - Basic ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Basic level under‐standing of GD&TBasic Qualifications for Tool Engineer:
Bachelor’s STEM Degree with 2 years of experience in medium to large scale tooling fabrication and/or production fabrication including composites, metallic, coatings application, and/or production manufacturing operations OR a Master's STEM DegreeThis position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret ClearanceBasic Qualifications for Principal Tool Engineer:
Bachelor’s STEM Degree with 5 years of experience OR a Master's STEM Degree with 3 years of experience OR PhD STEM with 1 years of experience in medium to large scale tooling fabrication and/or production fabrication including composites, metallic, coatings application, and/or production manufacturing operationsThis position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret ClearancePreferred Qualifications:
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)Direct Aerospace Tooling experienceDirect Experience with NX or some CADSalary Range: $68,500.00 - $102,700.00Salary Range 2: $84,200.00 - $126,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
