Job Overview Systems Engineer with maritime cybersecurity focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining secure IT systems for the United States Coast Guard in support of Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC). The candidate will support the NIWC in San Diego, CA. The Systems Engineer will be working in support of ISSS Cyber. This Systems Engineer will serve as a technical leader undertaking complex initiatives requiring specialized cyber knowledge. This position requires up to 50% travel. Pay Rate: $140,00.00- $165,000.00 Work Model: Onsite/In-Office Responsibilities Essential Duties & Job Functions: Responsible for roles of government in the DoD acquisition process as applied to the management of cybersecurity architecture design and system integration. Ensure that security improvement actions are evaluated, validated, and implemented as required. Ensure that cybersecurity requirements are integrated into the continuity planning for that system and/or organization(s). Prioritize best practices for vulnerability and compliance management to achieve program goals including but not limited to the following: Best practices deployment and security, incident response, and policy compliance. Best practices for maritime asset focus to include combat mission systems and maritime domain awareness systems. Define appropriate metrics for collection at the team, program and stakeholder level to monitor scope, schedule, and quality and rectify negative trends. DoD and DHS defense to adequately provide service development and deployment of next generation maritime surveillance and intelligence systems. Working with system functional requirements and designated application to adequately implement security protocols. C5ISR, network architecture and systems development, etc. Implement and manage new methodologies and processes within SSI maritime security to include security planning and directives. Manage preparation and participation in system test events for various systems. Oversee compliance and patch development for SSI and cyber security fielded systems. Acquire and manage the necessary resources, including leadership support, financial resources, and key security personnel, to support NIWIC security goals and objectives and reduce overall organizational risk. Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Mandatory: Bachelor’s degree in computer information sciences, cybersecurity, or computer engineering. Must possess current Security + certification. Fifteen (15) years of DoD and DHS defense experience. Ten (10) years in Network security. Ten (10) years of experience in Systems engineering. Must have extensive knowledge of the SELC process. Must have a working knowledge of ISSS Cyber Ability to travel when required. Must have an active TS/SCI Clearance. Must be able to successfully pass a background check and pre-hire drug test.
