We are hiring a Engineering, Project Manager (Special Projects) position working out of Phoenix, AZ.
The Engineering, Project Manager (Special Projects) will oversee and manage the delivery of water/wastewater capital projects through all aspects of engineering design, permitting, procurement, construction and commissioning. This is accomplished predominantly through the use of engineering consultants and construction contractors. The primary responsibility of this position is to deliver capital projects within budget and on schedule.
What you’d be responsible for:
Development and management of a cost estimating programProject scoping and schedulingDevelopment of project execution plans and strategies including identification of stakeholders, risks, and constraintsValue-based selection of engineering consultants and construction contractors through solicitation and review of bids and proposalsNegotiation of design and construction cost proposals Active management and administration of engineering consultant and construction contractsCoordination of design and construction activities with Engineering and Operations staffReview and evaluation of design and other technical documents prepared by engineering consultantsFormal and Informal reporting on project progressDevelopment and updating of spending forecastsInteraction with Federal, State, County, and local regulatory agencies, other utilities, and property owners to obtain necessary easements, permits, licenses, certifications and approvalsOversight of construction activities and coordination with construction inspectorsCompletion of close-out documentation for asset booking and capitalizationProviding technical guidance and advice to support Operations staffCapital project estimatingDevelopment of standards and engineering guidelinesProject delivery assignments in other states EPCOR provides services in (NM, TX)
What’s required to be successful:
4-year degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Construction Management or a related technical disciplineMinimum of 6 years of experience with a general knowledge of civil engineering, project management, and construction/operation of water/wastewater facilities and infrastructureProject assignments will be varied in scope and require the use of independent judgement and initiativeA solid understanding of current trends and technology for water/wastewater conveyance and treatment systems is required and a basic understanding of water/wastewater utility operations and private water utility economics is preferredRegistration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Arizona or ability to obtain registration within 1 year is preferredArizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) operator certifications are a plusThis position requires a general understanding of industry safety regulations, as well as federal, state and county water quality and design regulations and technical standards. Must also be extremely well versed in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
