JOB SUMMARY\n
The Engineering Aide is responsible for performing para-professional engineering work to assist Engineering staff with the preparation of correspondence, technical documents for citizens, consultants and other City of Conroe departments. Customer service, data entry, filing, meeting minutes, scheduling appointments, managing calendars, organizing, and following up on supervisor's assignments as well as greeting the public by phone, e-mail and in person. Assists in ensuring compliance in accordance with plans and specifications including investigations, data collection, and the legally established construction standards\/requirements for civil engineering projects within the City of Conroe's Engineering Department.\n
QUALIFICATIONS\n
Education and Experience:\n
Associate's degree in engineering, drafting, construction management or related field, and two years of related experience with a municipality, public entity or a consulting civil engineering firm; or equivalent combination of education and experience.\n
Special Requirements:\n
Possession of a valid class \"C\" Texas driver's license.\n
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: \n\nKnowledge of utilizing computer aided drafting (CAD) programs.\nSkill in the use of personal computers and applicable programs, applications and systems.\nSkill in conducting simple field investigations of the location of water and sewer lines, open manhole covers, walk across ditches, and help survey crew.\nAbility to prepare and maintain records, files, and reports.\nAbility to read civil engineering drawings regarding public works projects (water, sewer, and streets), civil drafting, calculations, and computer aided design.\nAbility to perform simple field investigations. \nAbility to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, schematics, blueprints, and maps.\nAbility to drive to the sites; set the survey equipment to check elevations and alignment of work and inspect pipes in ditches.\nAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.\n\n
PHYSICAL DEMANDS\n
The work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and\/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, crouching, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, talking, and walking.\n
