At LCRA, we have an opening for a candidate to work as a Wholesale Power Generation Engineering Analyst! Engineering analysts play pivotal roles which help support the reliable maintenance and operation of our power plants. As an analyst you will work with generation engineering, maintenance, and operations personnel to ensure that all power plant drawings and documents are well maintained and accurately reflect plant equipment and specifications. In this role you will also be responsible for drafting in AutoCAD to update the existing drawings and create new ones as needed, for field data collection and drawing verification, for performing plant document records research as part of various design and upgrade projects, and for management of our electronic document management system (EDMS) in order to maintain plant records. You will be trusted to:
- Develop complex technical design concepts related to engineering by working from notes, sketches, oral instructions and discussions with design originators. Perform technical design tasks involving alterations to or variations in engineering designs. Interpret engineering designs for compliance with and conformance to established specifications, requirements and standards. Coordinate system design details with departments throughout the LCRA. Meet with customers, contractors, vendors, architects and government representatives to discuss and reach agreement on design details.
- Perform engineering analysis and calculations to determine and ensure that job requirements are accurate and conform to standards, safety orders and government and environmental regulations. Report results to engineer.
- Provide quality assurance and quality control role related to engineering documents and processes. Monitor, review, and ensure that designs prepared by others conform to standards and government regulations. Initiate actions needed to resolve discrepancies and correct errors.
- Perform field investigations, which may involve various physical activities, to identify sues and resolve design and/or aesthetic conflicts. Monitor and review as-built drawings based on field edits. Ensures that field changes are in compliance with and conformance to established specifications, requirements and standards.
- As necessary, uses computer-aided design software and equipment to prepare detailed, complex engineering diagrams, schematics, working drawings and layout drawings from concept or provided materials.
You qualify with:
- Eight or more years of experience interpreting technical drawings/documents and performing technical analysis; drafting using computer-aided design software; or performing engineering design, including at least five years of experience performing engineering design or other relevant experience. A degree in computer-aided design, engineering technology or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
- Driver's license
