We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings. ​​The Azure Databases SQL Customer Success Engineering team is highly collaborative, data-oriented, with deep technical product knowledge. Team is focused on unblocking and accelerating complex Data Modernization engagements and gaiting product issues with our customers. Team is primarily focused on Azure SQL services including SQL Server and Arc along with Db2, Oracle & Sybase modernizations. ​​ We do not just value differences or different perspectives. As a result, our customers are better served. **Responsibilities** + Design, develop, and optimize database solutions for modernizing Mainframe applications to SQL Server and Azure SQL, applying deep development and architectural expertise. + Develop and maintain applications and tooling using programming languages such as C# and C++, ensuring high performance and scalability. + Lead and drive modernization initiatives for IBM Mainframe workloads, migrating them to Azure SQL. + Architect and build SQL-based distributed systems that support low-latency, high-throughput applications while ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements. + Implement and manage data replication solutions, including SQL Server native replication and third-party tools such as IBM IIDR, Qlik, and Oracle GoldenGate, to ensure seamless data availability and reliability. + Ability to engage in customer facing complex engagements ranging from PoCs to performance tuning & optimization. + Document and share learnings and technical best practices / insights within engineering as well as the wider architect community and contribute to key engineering activities such as telemetry, code and design specification reviews. Embody our culture (https://careers.microsoft.com/v2/global/en/culture) and values (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/about/corporate-values) **Qualifications** **Required Qualifications** + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python + OR equivalent experience. + **2+ years of experience** working with **IBM Mainframe Databases, SQL Server, and Azure SQL** in a development or engineering capacity. + **Experience in programming languages** such as **C# and C++** for database development and modernization. **Other Requirements** Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: + This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. **Preferred/Additional Qualifications** + Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python + OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python + OR equivalent experience. + Enterprise-scale data migration experience from IBM platforms, starting from project scoping to data/app migration and final certification and post-migration optimizations. Developer & architecture background with expertise in SQL Server & Azure SQL. + Development experience with programming languages like C# & C++. + Proven experience in IBM Mainframe to drive modernizations to Azure SQL will be a key skillset. + Experience in building SQL based distribution, low latency, high throughput applications adhering to compliance requirements will be critical skillset to succeed in this role. + Working knowledge of replication solutions SQL native as well as 3rd party replication technologies like IBM IIDR, Qlik, or Oracle GoldenGate. Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
