The Nuclear Command, Control and Communications (NC3) Survivable Communications Department (N131) as part of MITRE's AF Nuclear Enterprise Programs Division (N130) is seeking an Intermediate Engineering Assistant who has a desire to explore opportunities, evolve, and grow their professional career. Roles & Responsibilities:
Collaborate with other engineering assistants and engineers in a team environment to develop and execute test procedures, prototype efforts, and design Identify and resolve integrated network hardware and software issues.Accurately document procedures and results during testing and operations, and effectively communicate status updates to the engineering team.Conduct operations and maintenance of Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Terminals.Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires 2 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.Experience with military and/or commercial Beyond the Line of Sight (BLOS) Satellite Communications systems.Proficiency with laboratory equipment, e.g. oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, multimeters.Experience managing equipment repair and calibration with external service providers.Familiarity with procedural testing and documenting prototyping efforts.Experience with soldering and cable fabrication, ability to read, create, and communicate technical drawings.Collaborative in a team setting. Ability to communicate technical topics with technicians and engineers.Experience with network interface protocols and languages including TCP/IP, Serial, Ethernet, Python, SQL, or C.Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.Preferred Qualifications:
Active Top-Secret Clearance is preferrable.Proven experience in managing and maintaining virtual environments.Experience in troubleshooting and resolving issues in virtual environments.Knowledge of system backup and recovery procedures.Experience with MILSATCOM electronic and communication systems, including Milstar, AEHF, MMP, FOT, SCAMP, AF CPT, DMU SMART-T and the Mission Planning SystemKnowledge of DoD and NISPOM network security requirements.Comprehend functional block diagrams and technical orders for analysis, organizational level performance testing, and fault analysis.Familiarity with basic data plotting and formatting in Excel, LabView, MATLAB, or Satellite Tool Kit (STK) is a plus.Experience with cryptographic equipment, key material, and related devices.This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s):
