Engineering Associate III (Substation Engineering)

LCRA is looking for a Substation Engineering Associate to join our team. As part of our Substation Engineering Group, your expertise will contribute to the design and analysis of the transmission system in an organization that strives to enhance the quality of life of the Texans we serve. We need someone with knowledge of high voltage electrical substation design principles that can provide guidance for engineers, construction crews, and management. A strong candidate will be able to review and approve vendor drawings to keep projects in motion. Our ideal candidate will have experience designing high voltage substations and be able to review and design relay/control projects. As our teammate, you should be able to review specifications for major equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, and switches.

You will be trusted to:

- Support high voltage substation relay and control drawing packages.
- Scope substation projects and support the procurement of major equipment.
- Prepare drawings for construction as well as review and approve other engineer's construction packages.
- Evaluate and revise substation engineering procedures, design tools, and provide recommendations.
- Interface with equipment manufacturers, structural, system protection, construction personnel, consultants, vendors, and management regarding substation equipment, reliability, and research.
- Serve as a department representative on task forces, committees, and cross-functional teams and serve as a subject matter expert and represent LCRA on external committees, conferences, and other groups.

You qualify with:

- Bachelors degree in engineering, engineering technology, engineering physics, biosystems engineering, mathematical science, physical science or related science plus four or more years of post-Bachelors engineering experience relating to the area of engineering specialization required to perform the job.  
- Driver's license

You are a great fit with:

- Experience in designing high voltage substations (69kV - 345kV).
- Knowledge about substation equipment and test procedures.
- Ability to design relay and control projects.
- Ability to create technical specifications for substation equipment & review vendor drawings.
