What You'll Be DoingJob Scope: We are seeking an experienced Engineering Capital Project Manager to lead the execution of a critical $2.5 million upgrade to our batch chemical cooling process at our Arlington, TX facility. This project will involve significant engineering design, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, technical, process safety and project management skills with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Develop and maintain the overall project schedule, budget, and scope of work.
Manage project from concept through commissioning phase gate process.
Work with existing design firm and contractors for detailed scope.
Process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
Equipment specifications and vendor selection
Safety and environmental assessments (HAZOP, SIL, etc.)
Manage procurement activities, including:
Coordinate with Huntsman Procurement team.
Vendor selection and contract negotiations
Expediting equipment and materials deliveries
Quality control and inspection
Oversee construction activities, including:
Coordinate with site for training, planning and permitting activities.
Contractor selection and management
Site safety and environmental compliance
Construction progress monitoring and reporting
Coordinate with site for commissioning activities, including:
Pre-commissioning checks and equipment testing
System integration and performance verification
Troubleshooting and resolution of any issues
Develop and maintain project documentation, including:
Project plans, schedules, and budgets
Engineering drawings and specifications
Procurement and construction records
Commissioning and startup reports
Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including:
Project team members
Facility staff
Vendors and contractors
Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks and issues.
Ideal BackgroundEducation: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Civil Engineering from an accredited university is preferred.
Certification: Professional Engineering and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) registration is highly preferred.
Experience: This position requires 5+ years of relevant experience in engineering and project management, preferably within the chemical or process industries.
Proven experience in managing capital projects with budgets exceeding $1 million.
Strong understanding of chemical process engineering principles, including:
Heat transfer and fluid mechanics
Process control and instrumentation
Process safety and environmental considerations
Batch chemical processes and cooling technologies
Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project).
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
