We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Control Account Manager (CAM) to join our EMS group located in Rancho Bernardo, CA.
This position directly supports the Science & Technology Products superdirectorate by ensuring projects are contained within the defined technical scope, capturing, and managing the technical work to be executed, managing tasks execution, and capturing performance status. The role is a delicate balance between technical planning/management and cost/schedule management. Therefore, a technical background is a major benefit. Equally important is a depth of experience and direct application of cost, schedule, and EVM processes.
The CAM serves as a liaison between the engineering and program management departments. Monitors and analyzes progress and expedites critical path components and processes to maintain schedule. Evaluates and resolves barriers to task completion, some of which may be complex, related to design, quality, cost, and schedule. This position involves the exercise of independent judgment and discretion about matters of significance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Ensures complete technical scope is identified, defined, and captured to facilitate proper cost and schedule impact evaluation.Oversee and monitor project schedule, timelines, and milestones from initiation to delivery to meet delivery goals.Analyzes engineering documentation and confers across functional areas to provide and obtain clarity in work collaboration.Coordinate departmental and/or cross-functional teams to assign and prioritize tasks focused on delivering new or upgrading existing products and/or services.Contributes to the design and development process by making periodic visits to various departments such as planning, purchasing, manufacturing engineering, technical leads and program office.Coordinates engineering priorities for manufacturing issues and ensures schedule parity. Advises management of the status of work in progress and identifies potential production problems.Reviews and recommends resolutions for open engineering issues affecting sales orders or projects. Alerts planning department to open engineering issues that may affect outstanding work. Alerts engineering departments to sales order or project activity which may affect outstanding work.Assign and monitor work of project management staff, providing technical support and direction when necessary.Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to employees working on assigned project.Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely fashionDevelops and evaluates earned value and variance reports.Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.Conducts periodic program planning meetings.Collaborate across management and project team to expand services and potential business opportunities.Identify and assess project issues and develop solutions to meetAdministers and maintain large scale tracking and burn-down workbooks beyond typical Earned Value Management. Examples include procurement tracking, drawing burn-down, and line-of-balance trackers for manufacturing and assemblies.Interfaces with engineering managers, control account managers, and project management in estimating, scheduling, and maintaining task performance within approved cost and schedule constraints.Performs related engineering functions as directed by management, such as proposal support and implementation of contract modifications.May participate in, lead segments of, or provide overall management for the request for proposal (RFP) process to generate new business.Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.Responsible for ensuring work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.Ensure compliance with environmental and other regulations.May be required to interpret and administer policies and procedures that impact project(s).Performs other duties as assigned or required.We recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to apply.
