Role description:

We are seeking an Engineering Designer/Project Engineer to join our civil design team specializing in municipal infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will contribute to the planning and execution of linear infrastructure projects, including the design of watermains, sanitary sewers, and storm sewers. This role focuses on preliminary and detailed design phases and includes providing support to contractors, project managers, and construction administration teams. As a part of our team, you will work on diverse projects across municipalities in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), applying your technical expertise to deliver innovative and cost-effective infrastructure solutions. 

Role accountabilities:

• Prepare designs and technical documentation for linear municipal infrastructure projects, including watermain, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems. 

• Conduct preliminary and detailed design activities following municipal and provincial standards.

 • Coordinate with contractors, project managers, and construction administration teams to ensure seamless project delivery. 

• Perform design calculations, prepare technical drawings, and develop engineering specifications. 

• Assist with project proposals, cost estimates, and schedules.

 • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to address design and permitting requirements.

 • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations. 

• Participate in field investigations, site reviews, and support construction phases as needed. 

Qualifications and Experience: 

•  Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. 

• Minimum of 5 years in the design of municipal linear infrastructure projects, including watermain, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems. 

• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is an asset. 

• Valid G-Class Driver’s License is required.

The successful candidate will have proficiency in civil design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D) and familiarity with municipal and provincial standards in Ontario is an asset. They will have strong problem-solving skills and ability to deliver under tight deadlines, excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

The salary range for this position is $90,000-110,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
