Responsibilities You will operate high pressure sewer cleaning, equipment, dump trucks, semi-trucks with attachable dump, low boy, and flatbed trailers, all snow removal equipment and other specialty equipment. You will operate gasoline or diesel-powered heavy-duty earth moving or road building equipment with either wheeled or crawler type traction. You will excavate earth for installation or repair of various underground utility systems, such as sanitary and storm sewers, water distribution, steam piping, natural gas, and high voltage electric. You will serve as lead worker on a specific project, providing direction to other journeymen and lower grade employees. The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform common tasks including 1) Operating various types of heavy construction type equipment where power is transmitted through complicated shifting, hydraulic and steering controls; 2) Reading specifications, sketches, and grade stakes for the fine grading of surfaces; 3) Determining the nature of soil and features of different types of terrain to determine the proper approach to be used; 4) Communicating orally, sufficient to serve as lead worker on a project and/or to interface and coordinate with contract employees; 5) Understanding of all OSHA regulations regarding trench safety, such as using trench boxes, shoring, or sloping or benching techniques.
