Engineering Intern

Primary Purpose

To experience Mountaire's culture first-hand and provide additional exposure of Mountaire's family-oriented work environment.  Fulfill all designated duties within each specialized area of operation for the duration of the internship. This program is intended to provide learning opportunities by working hands-on with mentors and completing assigned projects. The project assigned will be a capital project that is already budgeted for. The capital project chosen will be based on the interns area of study and timeline of the project. The project assigned may include equipment replacement, construction, and/or remodel.  This project will be conducted start from finish if plausible. This will include design work, meeting with contractors, bidding, project submittal, project management, and asset close out. AutoCAD will be a vital part of the internship, some knowledge of AutoCAD prior to internship is preferred. Travel is required to various locations for Engineering related inspections. 

Primary Project

Work with all project stakeholders to come to a design/plan      Work with outside contractors to bid out projects      Create project descriptions and justifications for project approval     Maintain project updates until completion      Spend time with each Project Engineer     Assist in Grain Bin inspection and complete Grain Bin Inspection reports      Complete Technical Support Projects as assigned (Short term/non capital)     

Duties/Activities Required by Job

Complete assigned project identified by department mentor Attend weekly seminar series across different Mountaire facilities  All interns must be available to travel to Delaware during the last week of the program for final presentations (August 5 - 7, 2025) All interns are required to complete a 10 minute presentation on their project at the conclusion of summer. Presentations will take place in Millsboro, DE at the Administrative Building during the week of August 4-8th.  All interns must complete a mid-way evaluation (week 5) along with a final evaluation (week 10)

Education/Experience Requirements

Must be currently enrolled and pursuing an Associate or Bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university. Engineering Major - Preference given to Civil or Mechanical Must be proficient in AutoCAD and Excel         Critical thinking and problem solving skills      Communication Skills     Project Management Skills      Ability to work independently and with teams
