This is a paid, on-site internship with a Monday – Friday schedule of 40 hours per week.

Program Structure

Interns will apply classroom lessons in a real-world setting. Summer interns will learn about our products, processes, and functions. The participants will be given a work assignment in our engineering group as they work under the guidance of a mentor. The scope of the internship program will allow participants to provide value to the organization by completing a well-defined, key project by the end of their internship.

Summer Internship Project Overview:

Interns for our Alpha, NJ locationwill be valued members of our team and will support the engineering, operations, and development departments by participating in projects and activities organized by our senior technical staff.

Engineering Operations Focus:

Interns in the Engineering Operations focus will work in a manufacturing plant, where ultra-high purity specialty gases are purified and filled for major customers in the semiconductor industry.Throughout the summer, interns will support the continuing operations of the plant alongside senior engineers, working hands-on with equipment such as distillation columns, adsorption beds, diaphragm compressors, gas distribution panels, instrumentation, and programmable logic controllers.In addition, interns will manage an independent plant expansion or productivity project with final presentation. Interns will performengineering and project management work like creating designs in AutoCAD, sizing equipment, building parts lists, and maintaining a project schedule and budget. Interns will collaborate with project managers, process engineers, operations, procurement, safety, and other business groups.

Analytical Chemistry Focus:

Interns in the Analytical Chemistry Focus will work in a development laboratory, analyzing specialty gases used in the manufacture of semiconductors. Interns will work with senior level chemists in a laboratory setting to develop analytical methods using gas chromatography, infrared spectroscopy, and inductively coupled plasma mass spectroscopy. Position will require hands-on analysis of gas cylinders including gas handling and instrument setup and involve an independent project with final presentation. Interns will collaborate with process engineers, senior chemists, operations, safety, and other business groups.Students that have completed or are enrolled in analytical chemistry coursework are preferred.
