Primary Responsibilities:

Waste Reduction: Use lean manufacturing methods to reduce material waste in silicone manufacturing processes.

Efficiency Improvement: Analyze current manufacturing processes to identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce downtime.

Non-Conformance Investigation: Assist in investigating and resolving non-conformance issues. This will include the development of corrective actions.

Quick Kaizens: Facilitate quick kaizen events to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Team Support: Provide general support to the Molding and Extrusion Focus Factories team as needed.

Major Projects

250-6 Changeover Time and Material Improvement: 250-6 produces co-extruded silicone hose. This process underwent a new equipment install in 2024. At this time, the equipment is working well, and operators are pleased, but the opportunity remains to further refine and optimize the start up process. The Co-Op will work directly with Focus Factory Engineers and our Production Team to identify the current best practices related to startup. The Co-Op will then be responsible for the best possible method, training all crews to the new method, and documenting via an easy to follow work instruction. This project will involve significant time on the production floor to understand the current process and work with the operators on improvements. Molding Defect Reduction: The molding focus factory will help identify a product with a high rework rate. The Co-Op will be responsible for working with Engineering and Production to determine the root causes of the defect and begin testing ways to reduce the occurrence rate of the defects. This will involve analysis of molding tooling, machine settings, machine reliability, and material characteristics.
